CALVIN HARRIS ‘WORLD’S HIGHEST-EARNING DJ’

Scottish star Calvin Harris has been named as the highest-paid DJ in the world, earning £29m ($46m) over the last year.

The 29-year-old from Dumfries earns most of his money from a packed schedule of club gigs and can command up to £190,000 ($300,000) for some performances, according to Forbes.

Harris, who worked in a fish factory for a year before finding fame, recently signed a deal to play 70 shows over a two-year period at Las Vegas superclub Hakkasan.

Producing and writing for the likes of Rihanna - on We Found Love - have further boosted the DJ’s worldwide fame.

He also made UK chart history in April by becoming the first artist to have eight top 10 hits from one studio album.

The album, 18 Months, included collaborations with stars including Florence Welch, Tine Tempah, Ellie Goulding and Kelis.

Harris beat Tiesto into second place in the Forbes rich list, with the Dutch DJ pulling in £20m ($32m) over the last year.

The rest of the top five is a made up of French star David Guetta (£19m), Swedish House Mafia (£16m) and Deadmau5 (£13m). – Sky News
